the amount or nutritional value of the food in the steps before it reaches the consumer.Food waste, on the other hand, is the general definition of food that goes to waste after food distribution is completed, although it is suitable for human consumption.It usually occurs in the last steps of the supply chain, which can be called sales and consumption, and mostly from human sources.Looking at the overall supply chain, almost half of food loss and waste occurs at home;it is seen that the remaining half occurs in other steps of the chain.Even though we see food as a blessing in our culture and come across the words 'We don't waste it', the figures show that we waste 93 kilograms of food per person per year in our households.With this amount, unfortunately, we are in the first place in the world.In addition, studies show that 40 percent of the food produced in Turkey is wasted, and the economic value of this waste is approximately 300 billion TL per year.At this point, we come across two critical points while defining the role of society.The first is to accept your waste.Second, to prevent and reduce waste at source.Because if we think that almost half of the food waste is created by us in the household, we all have a great responsibility in this journey where we say 'stop wasting'.Some of them are as follows;planned shopping, correct storage conditions, sufficient cooking and reviewing the portions, re-evaluating the surplus or sharing it in a solidarity culture, using the products that cannot be used as compost by making compost.”“As the Food Rescue Association, we provide capacity support and free consultancy for the needy identification operations of the NGOs and local governments that we work with, which we call food banks, throughout Turkey.As part of the Waste Campaign, we are doubling our impact with the support of Fairy.With the support of Fairy Turkey, we carried out a two-stage project in order to expand the operations of the Food Rescue Association in the Aegean and Mediterranean regions, where food rescue activities cannot be carried out yet and where those in need cannot benefit from food banking applications.In the first stage, we provided food aid to 145 thousand people in the Aegean Region and 185 thousand people in the Mediterranean Region.Thus, we increased the number of 330 thousand people to whom the Food Rescue Association provides regular monthly food aid to 660 thousand people.In the second phase of our project, we focused on raising awareness in the society about food waste.In this context, it enabled the activation of 50 new food donation points.Training was given to 300 personnel positioned at donation points.Thanks to the logistics infrastructure established with the Don't Waste
