Nick Bosa was a dominant rookie in 2019 when his ability to harass opposing quarterbacks helped the San Francisco 49ers reach the Super Bowl.Bad news for the rest of the NFL: Bosa feels he's playing much better this season, one season after knee reconstruction surgery, and the stats back it up.After posting his third multi-sack game last week at Jacksonville, Bosa has a career-high 10 and surpassed his nine in 2019, when he won Defensive Rookie of the Year.“I think I've improved a lot,” Bosa said.“I think I'm starting to figure out how to really get sacks, get the numbers up.My rookie season I was just there, pushing, trying to win every play, and it worked out.But now I'm really finding out how the sack leaders do it.They go out with a plan and they know when the opportunities are going to come and they are ready for when it happens.”Bosa is among those leaders again, ranking fifth in the NFL in sacks (10), first in sacks for loss (15) and tied for third in hits on the opposing quarterback (22).He is one tackle for loss yards and three quarterback hits away from matching the impressive total he had in his first year in the league.Bosa's comeback season comes after he tore the ACL in his knee in Week 2 of last season, a very sensitive loss for San Francisco's defense. The Niners (5-5) already have 23 sacks in 10 games this season, up from 30 in all of last season.“Bosa is a special player and he is as valuable this season as he was his rookie year," head coach Kyle Shanahan said. "He was the difference for us in 2019 and we missed him so much last season. You can see why him again this year.I think he's getting better every week and he's playing at his best level right now.”He gets the latest news in Spanish Monday, Wednesday and Friday.Subscribe to our newsletterYou may occasionally receive promotional content from the San Diego Union-Tribune en Español.To ensure that the San Diego Union-Tribune en Español remains healthy and robust, your donation, in any measure, is now more important than ever.Help us continue to inform the community. To donate click on the logo.Privacy Policy Privacy Policy Terms of Service Sign Up For Our Newsletters
