Information and OpinionBefore the transfer of the Capital to the Central Plateau in 1960, there were already schools in cities in the State of Goiás that were incorporated into the Federal District, such as Planaltina and Brazlândia, composing its educational structure.Furthermore, these data are arranged with the following composition: schools created at the time and active until today;later extinct and also those in which there are reports of creation, but no documentation of extinction or transformation has been found. In 1959, the Commission for the Administration of the Educational System of Brasília (CASEB) was established in the Ministry of Education, by Decree No. 47,472 of 22 December. This Commission was responsible for the administration of the educational system of the Federal District, which was being exercised by NOVACAP.According to DOURADO (2014) the members of this Commission identified difficulties mainly in the installation of High School.Among the difficulties, we have the lack of necessary equipment and facilities, as well as the absence of teachers hired for this level of education. In order to solve, or at least reduce, the problems, CASEB held a national competition for the selection of high school and primary school teachers. And so, on April 16, the High School Center, called “CASEB”, was inaugurated. On the 19th of the same month, President Juscelino Kubitschek gave the Inaugural Class. On September 29, 1960, the Educational Foundation was installed, under the presidency of Dr.Bayard Lucas de Lima.On the same date, the FEDF Board of Directors was sworn in, whose first meeting took place on October 11 of the same year (1st Book of Minutes, 1960).In DF, the first public school was created on October 18, 1957, in Candangolândia. It was Grupo Escolar number 1 (GE-1), later known as Escola Júlia Kubitschek in honor of President Juscelino Kubitschek's mother, who was also a teacher. The unit's 480 children studied full-time, with three extra hours of social activities. The architectural project was carried out in 20 days, authored by Oscar Niemeyer. But later the school was disbanded. The first school year in the capital was marked by several demonstrations and protests, including the first teachers' strike in September 1960. The reason for the strike was the absence of accommodation for the teachers, provided for in a contractual clause. Many teachers were left without housing, and those who received them complained that the places were small and uncomfortable, in addition to having to share with other teachers. The strike was supported by the population and students, and 10 teachers were dismissed, which generated the need to create the first teachers' association, in order to guarantee the rights present in the employment contracts.Students were divided into classes according to age and individual aptitudes, and they could choose two subjects they could study throughout the semester. At the end of 1960, the DF already had dozens of provisional schools and 13 permanent schools. The educational plan was prepared by the pedagogue Anísio Teixeira.Wilma Péres Tredicci was the first manager of Escola Classe 06, in Taguatinga, in 1963. She fondly remembers the times when the place was founded and the moments she lived as a teacher and in the direction of the educational unit.“I miss the time I was at this school. It was a very nice team with friendly teachers. We struggled a lot to get everything organized for the children, but slowly everything got better.I remember very well each student who went there”, recalls Wilma, now 94 years old.The Escola Classe 06 de Taguatinga started its activities on March 11, 1963, and is still active today. The educational unit has around 470 students, aged between 6 and 11, from the 1st to 5th grades of elementary school. It is located at CNB 12, Special Area 01.FEDERAL DISTRICT.Secretary of Education and Culture. The origin of Brasília's educational system: Creation of CASEB, 12/22/1959.Brasília: Department of Educational Planning, 1984, p.17-18, 24-45.
