At the FTTH 2022 conference, held in Vienna, Austria, ZTE Corporation announced the release of the prototype of the industry's first Unit (ONU) optical network, to support both 50 Gigabit passive optical network technologies (50G PON) and WiFi 7.Following the launch of the first 50G PON prototype, at this year's Mobile world congress (MWC) in Barcelona, Spain, ZTE unveils the first optical network unit (ONU) in the 50G PON field, bearing the model ZXHN F9746Q.While enhancing ZTE's 50G PON product portfolio from end to end, the ONU demonstrates the company's innovation capability and leadership position in the fixed network segment.Regarding the network, the ZXHN F9746Q ONU uses asymmetric 50G PON technology, with a speed of up to 50 Gbps for reception and 25 Gbps for transmission. On the user side, it provides a 50G Ethernet optical port to meet the high-speed access requirements of small and medium enterprises. To better utilize the capabilities of the 50G PON network, the ONU is also equipped with a MediaTek filogic Wi-Fi 7 chipset. As a result, it provides four spatial streams in the 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz and 6 GHz bands, enabling a maximum theoretical throughput of 19 Gbps and a fourfold increase in connections compared to ONUs that only support the Wi-Fi 6 standard.Empowered by these capabilities, the ZXHN F9746Q ONU can better deliver the high-bandwidth multi-device connectivity required by future home and business scenarios.By incorporating MediaTek's proprietary Multi-Link operation (MLO) and Xtra range technologies, the ONU dramatically improves the user experience of high-bandwidth services over a relatively long distance.A metal casing allows it to dissipate heat better when running high-speed applications, improving the reliability of the device.50G PON is a next-generation PON technology that supports a multitude of application scenarios. In addition to providing ultra-broadband access for homes, it offers low latency, high bandwidth, precise clock synchronization and low jitter, all characteristics required by innovative services such as 5G, Cloud VR, telemedicine and smart manufacturing. The release of the 50G PON+Wi-Fi 7 ONU prototype by ZTE will advance the development of innovative services and accelerate the arrival of the Internet era in all fields.Note that ZTE's Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) products have been deployed by more than 270 operators in around 100 countries. As an industry leader, ZTE is thus committed to technological innovation to provide customers with better products and services.Sanae Raqui / ECO InspirationsJoin LesEco.ma and receive our newslettersJoin LesEco.ma and receive our newsletters
