Many people think that connecting a router is a demanding task that only an IT specialist can handle.Meanwhile, a newly purchased router can be connected by anyone. All you need is an AC adapter, power source and internet connection.A router is a device that provides wired and wireless Internet connection for home devices such as a computer, telephone, TV or other smart device. The task of the router is to create a local network in which the connected device receives its IP address and then accesses the internet signal.Home appliances can also see each other, e.g. a WiFi printer with a computer that will send documents to it, or a smart TV with a network drive, where we have our movies and music stored.A modem is a device whose purpose is to convert digital data into analog form and send it to another modem. In other words - it enables the internet provider to send data to our apartment. It is not the same as a router - although the terms are used interchangeably. While the router divides the signal between several devices, the modem is necessary for the Internet signal to reach us from the provider at all.Buying the right router shouldn't be a problem. Before buying, make sure what type of device you need and pay attention to features such as:Connecting the router to the network is not a problem and everyone can handle it.After removing the equipment from the packaging, make sure that we have access to a power source near an internet socket or that we are within the range of our operator's mobile network. After connecting the equipment to the power supply using the included power adapter, restart the router. Then you can connect the internet cable or insert the SIM card. The primary internet socket on a router is often identified by its name or color.Depending on the router, it can be signed, for example, WAN or DSL / ADSL.After connecting the power adapter and the Internet, go to the router configuration.Configuring the router will take us about 5 minutes. The entire process is described in detail in the paper or electronic manual included with each kit.To start the configuration, we need to open a web browser window, eg Firefox, Opera or Chrome, and then enter our IP address in the address field. The most common number is 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1, in Huawei hardware it is usually 192.168.8.1 (you can find it on the back or bottom of the router, as well as in the manual).A login window will appear on the screen.Usually the default login and password are "admin".The password can also be the router's brand name, e.g. pentagram. After correct logging in, it is worth choosing a quick configuration that will be limited to filling in the most important parameters. The main parameters for configuring the router should be provided by the Internet provider. If we do not know them, we should contact him.We can easily fill in the SSID field, i.e. the name of the router's WiFi network, security mode and WiFi password. When configuring, it is best to choose WPA2-PSK security. After saving all options, we will usually have to wait a while or restart the device. If everything is well configured, after entering any address, we will connect to the website.Configuring the router is not a difficult task.In case of problems, we can contact the internet provider or reset the device, which will allow you to re-enter all data. The user manual or virtual systems of the router management panel, which are provided by some router manufacturers (eg TP-Link for some models), are also helpful. Thanks to them, we can practice on an artificial router on the manufacturer's website, before we start configuring our own device.
