The CANstruction exhibition “the art of donating returns” was inaugurated at the City Mall. The initiative, now in its fourth edition, is organized by the Diakonia Food Bank, sponsored by the Vilaseca Foundation and the food unit of Semvra with its Facundo brand.CANstruction is a term used to name the artistic competition in which students from various establishments make sculptures out of cans. The main purpose of this type of initiative is donation, since they work within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goal No. 2 of the UN (United Nations Organization), which is zero hunger. Therefore, one hundred percent of the cans used will be donated to 159 social organizations. In support of the cause to increase the volume of product that Diakonia will deliver, the Vilaseca Foundation and Facundo will donate an additional can of Facundo for every three cans of the brand collected.Productora Cartonera SA also participates, providing cardboard boxes for the transportation of canned products, since previously the lack of adequate packaging caused the deterioration of around 10% of donations. Also read: Tecnológicos maintain their online education offerThe participants in this year's exhibition are students from universities such as the Escuela Superior Politécnica del Litoral (ESPOL), the University of Guayaquil, the Salesian Polytechnic University of Ecuador, the Catholic University of Santiago de Guayaquil and the Bolivarian Technological Institute.“We have no doubt about that spirit of solidarity that the young people of our country have.It has been gratifying to feel the commitment and teamwork that they have had during this fourth edition of CANsstruccion”, said Gabriela Quezada, Marketing Manager of Semvra-Facundo.The works of art made will be exhibited until August 31 at the City Mall, where visitors will be able to admire the work developed by the different youth teams for free.
