ADA — Ohio Northern University Spring Band Festival 2022 will feature “Miles of Blue” starting at 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 1 at the Freed Center for the Performing Arts, Ohio Northern University, Ada.
“Miles of Blue” was written as a tribute to fallen NYPD Sgt. Paul Tuozzolo by Brian Balmages, Tuozzolo’s cousin-in-law.
The inspiration came from the sea of blue — 20,000 police officers who showed up from around the country and Canada to pay their respects at Tuozzolo’s funeral. Tuozzolo was killed during a Bronx shootout on Nov. 4, 2016. His last words and actions saved the life of his partner.
The band will be assisted by Ohio police officers and outstanding high school musicians from across Ohio.
